The Golden Apple award goes to Coach Hope Simmons of Holy Nativity
Extracurricular activities during school are fun, but at Holy Nativity the teacher makes it even better.
Congratulations to Coach Hope Simmons of Holy Nativity Episcopal School, this week's Golden Apple winner.
To most students at Holy Nativity Coach Hope Simmons is more than just a regular teacher.
"She's great because she can always laugh with us and at lunch she sits with us everyday," Student Milly Eberhard said.
Coach Hope wears many hats. She teaches P.E., theatre and dance. While she always makes class fun, she teaches her students important life lessons.
"I feel like the most important thing she has taught us is good sportsmanship," Eberhard said.
Coach Hope has been at Holy Nativity for 19 years and says she's loved every day.
"We have a really good time, we talk about the important things, about good choices and how to be a good friend and to support each other and to be positive as possible," Coach Hope said.
While organizing musicals and teaching dance are a lot of hard work, Coach Hope says she wouldn't trade it for the world.
"It's the most rewarding thing. It's a lot of hard work but when it's P.E. or musical stuff, the kids come right out. They are running, they are excited, they are ready to go every single day, so I love that part," Coach Hope said.
