SNEADS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - For more than three decades this week's Golden Apple winner has educated future generations. Congratulations to Donna Braxton, a math teacher at Sneads High School.
For 36 years, Braxton has taught in the Jackson County school system, molding the next generation one equation at a time.
"My favorite part is working with the students and watching them accomplish things and watching the ones that struggle, when suddenly they understand," said Braxton. "It's just very rewarding to me to see that."
According to her students, Braxton's individual attention is part of what makes her stand out as an educator.
"For some teachers, as long as the majority of the class gets the material they'll move on," said Braxton. "With Ms. Braxton you can tell that she's dedicated to make sure everybody understands and is on the same level."
At some time or other all great things must come to an end. After decades of service to the Jackson County school system, Braxton announced this will be her last year teaching as she prepares to retire.
"It's been very rewarding through the years to help people and to know that I've made a difference," Braxton said.
