BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG) - One teacher makes sure middle school science is fun and is inspiring the next generation of scientists. Congratulations to Kelly Hodges, a teacher at University Academy and this week's Golden Apple winner.
"She's the world's best science teacher," McKenzie Evans said.
That's how many students describe Kelly Hodges, a seventh grade science teacher at University Academy.
"I've made 'A's all year long with this wonderful teacher, I've not made all 'A's in science ever," Evans said.
She's helping her students excel in the classroom, and inspiring some to study science in the future.
"I want to be an engineer when I'm older, so science and math are two things I really loved the most and Mrs. Hodges makes science fun and she makes the hand-on learning something I can remember," Cassidy Bruckschen said.
This year students are learning all about life science and water education.
"I want them to understand the importance of clean water, fresh air, healthy soil. Those things are what support all living things and that's us and so I feel like they need to know that," Kelly Hodges.
She hopes to have a lifelong impact on her students.
"I feel like I have a greater opportunity for impact because they are the future and that inspires me everyday," Hodges said.
