PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Florida Department of Health in Bay County is issuing three health advisories after testing saltwater.
Advisories have been issued for the Carl Gray Park (SP 9), Beach Drive (SP 10), and Dupont Bridge (SP 11) locations.
The FDOH in Bay County conducts saltwater beach water quality monitoring in accordance with the Healthy Beaches Monitoring Program. Water samples are collected twice a month.
The samples are tested for enteric bacteria normally found in the intestinal tract of humans and animals. The bacteria can cause disease, infections, or rashes.
The higher amounts of bacteria can be caused by storm water runoff, pets and wildlife, and human sewage.
