Good Thursday morning everyone!
It's a quiet start on radar with clear skies overhead this morning.
Temperatures are cold! We're waking up in the 30s inland and barely hanging on to some 40s on the coast. However, we do have a northerly breeze still in place this morning at around 10-15mph and it's certainly adding to the chill. Temperatures feel more like there in the low 30s or below freezing for many as we get started this morning. So be sure to bundle up, it'll be a cold day under the sun ahead. Highs today will struggle to reach the low to mid 50s this afternoon.
High pressure is building into the southeast, but we still fall on the east side of that high today. That will continue to produce northerly flow through the day today and into tonight, ushering in more colder air. We'll have another shot at reaching the lower 30s tonight or near freezing conditions for some away from the coast and further inland.
However, as the high continues to slide east, the clockwise winds around that high will start to shift our winds more easterly through the day tomorrow and more southerly over the Northern Gulf Coast states. It helps feed our next system developing out of the plains with warmth and moisture. We'll see that storm system move in over the weekend.
Due to the lack of significant moisture return ahead of this approaching system, we'll likely only see light to moderate rain showers moving in. The timing of this system appears to be more late in the day on Saturday and into Saturday night, more than likely wrapping up around sunrise Sunday morning leaving about a quarter inch in the rain gauge.
For today, blue skies and sunshine with cold and breezy conditions. Highs today struggle to reach the mid 50s this afternoon. Your 7 Day Forecast has another below average and chilly day under sunshine for tomorrow before clouds increase heading into the weekend and our next rain chance moves in.
