PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Graduation season is upon us and so is the grand opening for Tommy Oliver Stadium at Bay High School in Panama City.
The stadium will have its grand opening Tuesday night at 7 o'clock.
If you want to check out the new $12 million venue, the event is open to the community.
This all comes just in time to host three Bay District high school graduations.
Although the stadium is at Bay High School, the Rutherford Rams will be the inaugural class to graduate from the venue.
"It's a relief," Urbriah Edwards, a graduating senior at Rutherford, said in regards to graduation coming up.
"Especially to know that we pretty much only have like a week left, like we have this week, we take our exams, and then we get to graduate and walk the stage," Miranda Workman, another graduating Ram, added.
Rutherford High School students graduate May 24th at 7 p.m.
Bay High School students graduate May 29th at 7:30 p.m.
Mosley High School students graduate May 30th at 7:30 p.m.
"We're making history, basically, because we're the first ones to graduate at the new stadium," Edwards said.
The newly-renovated Joe and Jeannette Chapman Field at Tommy Oliver Stadium was revealed in March.
The original stadium was built in the 1950s.
Sporting events are expected to kick off this upcoming fall for football season.
