Sheriff's officials investigating after tourist dies in fall from balcony

UPDATE: Sheriff's officials have identified the victim as Justin Trepanier, 27, of Millersville, Missouri.

They said a security guard found his body while on a check around the complex, located at 1002 East Highway 98.

They said Trepanier was visiting the area with four other people. A companion reportedly said he had last seen Trepanier around 2 a.m. when Trepanier went out onto the eighth floor balcony to smoke a cigarette after a night out.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office investigator said there is no initial indication of anything suspicious and the fall appears to be an accident.

Original Story: According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s office, an out-of-state visitor was found dead around five a.m. Saturday.

Officials say the visitor, who was a male, died after falling from a balcony at a Destin condominium.

They said they responded to a 911 call after the body was discovered on a pool deck.

Officials say the man was believed to be in his late twenties and they are currently investigating his death.
