Tuesday Forecast

Good Tuesday morning everyone!

Meteorologist Ryan Michaels says a Heat Advisory is issued when heat indices reach 105-110°. An Excessive Heat Warning is issued when the heat index reaches 110-115° or higher.

It's a quiet start on radar this morning with just a bit of stratus cloud cover passing through our morning skies today. That may filter out some sunshine through the morning commute, but overall you'll still want the sunglasses. And while we'll get away without much rain concern for the morning drive, the afternoon has more scattered storms ahead.

Temperatures are sultry this morning in the upper 70s for most on the coast. Inland areas closer to the mid 70s may have some patchy dense fog early on today. Another Heat Advisory is in effect for NWFL through this evening as we'll see highs return to the 90s and heat indices push up to 105-110°. An Excessive Heat Warning is also in effect for Okaloosa County and west in the Panhandle where feels like temperatures may exceed 110° on up to 115°.

The heat, humidity, and sea breeze will all lead toward a chance of a scattered storm developing once again this afternoon to try and cool us off. But they'll be largely hit or miss and not for everyone once again today with rain chances around 40%.

The ridge of high pressure over the South bringing the extreme heat and smaller rain chances starts to slide further west heading into the midweek. This, paired with a front moving into the Southeast, will lead toward the heat breaking and our rain chances rising Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances move to 50-70% Wednesday through Friday and that will help keep our afternoon heat a bit more under control as highs move closer to seasonal around the upper 80s to low 90s.

Bottom Line...
For today, mostly to partly sunny skies with a hit or miss afternoon shower or thunderstorm possible, rain chance around 40%. Highs today reach the low 90s on the coast to mid to upper 90s inland with a feels like temperature closer to 108°. Your 7 Day Forecast will start to increase rain chances, especially late in the day tomorrow and into Thursday.
