One sent to hospital after Bay County crash

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - One person was sent to the hospital after a crash in Bay County Thursday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Troopers, the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 231 near the intersection of Highway 390. Troopers say a Toyota Tundra driven by Justin McGowan, 35, of Panama City, was going south on Highway 231.

They say McGowan was distracted and came up too fast on a Chevrolet Silverado. They say McGowen tried to miss the Silverado by swerving left but clipped the back. Troopers say the collision pushed the Silverado in to a GMC Yukon, which was stopped. Both the Tundra driven by McGowen and the Silverado overturned during the crash.

One person in the Yukon was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Troopers say the other drivers involved had minor injuries and refused EMS.

McGowen has been charged with careless driving.
