It was announced Tyndall would no longer receive $17 million allocated to the base's fire rescue station.

Brigadier General Patrice Melancon, who is in charge of the rebuild says they are not concerned about this recent budget cut at all. General Melancon says plans to rebuild Tyndall as the base of the future are still underway.

The rebuild project is estimated at $4.25 billion. That includes updating to state of the art technology and bringing in three squadrons of F-35s.

General Melancon said, "Tyndall is here to stay, we're not closing the base, the base is going to stay open and we're... we have not deviated from our end line goal of the first of October 2023 for that first F-35."
