UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Highway 98 traffic crash

PANAMA CITY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: August 16, 2019 (11 a.m.)

New information is being released in a crash that killed a bicyclist Thursday afternoon on Highway 98 at Bayview Avenue.

Panama City Police say they've identified the victim killed in the crash.

We're told just before 4:30 p.m., 72-year-old Sheldon Reynolds of Panama City was riding his bicycle when he entered west Highway 98 into the path of a commercial vehicle. Police say Reynolds was then hit by the vehicle and died at the scene.

One person is dead after an accident at the intersection of Highway 98 and 17th Street in Panama City, according to Police.

Officers say an individual on a bicycle attempted to cross Highway 98 without stopping and was hit by a truck traveling eastbound. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
