PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Tyndall Air Force Base is planning to add new aircraft in our area and officials said it's important to get new pilots trained.

Thursday, U.S. Air Force officials hosted a public scoping meeting to teach locals about the proposals to train and accelerate the training of F-22 and F-35 pilots.

Officials said they want to focus on getting public input to learn how the proposed training methods would impact the community.

"It's important to get everybody's input so the military and the communities around the military bases operate as a partnership. It's important to understand our impacts on the communities around us," said U.S. Air force Civil Engineer Center Mike Ackerman.

Officials said they plan to use the comments from the meeting in an environmental impact study.
