VA 2K Walk helping homeless veteran population

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Wednesday served as an opportunity to help those who have served our country.

At the VA Clinic in Panama City Beach, the nationwide Ninth Annual VA 2K walk made strides toward helping homeless veterans.

All monetary donations and non-perishable items will go to homeless veterans in Bay County and the surrounding areas.

"We're having this walk to promote, like I said, a healthy living, trying to get better health in your life, take care of yourself better, and that's what we're trying to promote in our veterans as well," said Cynthia Summer, the nurse manager at the Panama City VA Outpatient Clinic.

For more information on how to help homeless veterans, you can call Catherine Anglin-Greene (850) 758-6786 or Shayma Salman (850) 238-5223 with the Housing and Urban Development VA Supportive Housing Group.
