Virtual dementia tour aims to put caregivers in patients' shoes

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG) - Living with dementia can come with a mountain of challenges, but it can be even more difficult without the proper help from caregivers.

In collaboration with Seagrass Village, Senior Helpers will offer unique insight into dementia through an upcoming virtual dementia tour. Participants will be outfitted with special devices meant to simulate the disease while being guided through common, everyday tasks. The goal is to help caregivers better relate to patients and create more effective strategies for care.

The next tour will be held Wednesday, January 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Seagrass Village in Panama City Beach. To schedule a spot for the tour, call Vivian Smith at Seagrass Village at (850) 249-0707.
