Milton man found guilty of traveling to meet minor for sex

Trenton Hooks

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. A Milton man is facing up to 25 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of attempting to meet a minor for sex.

Florida State Attorney Bill Eddins announced Friday a jury found 48-year-old Trenton Patrick Hooks guilty of traveling to meet a minor for sexual conduct with consent by a parent.

The verdict came down December 13, 2018.

Hooks was also found guilty of using a computer to solicit a parent to consent to sexual conduct of a child, as well as the unlawful use of two-way communication to facilitate the commission of a felony.

Hooks was arrested in March 2018 during an undercover operation known as "Paladin Shield". According to the state attorney's office, Hooks responded to an online posting and ultimately requested to have sex with a minor.

Hooks agreed to travel to Walton County to meet with the mother and the child. When Hooks arrived at the meeting place, he was taken into custody by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

During the trial, Hooks testified the only reason he'd agreed to have sex with the child was so he could blackmail the mother into having sex with him. The jury deliberated for approximately 30 minutes before returning the verdict of guilty as charged.
