WJHG to air national anthem daily

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG) - It was a tradition for years -- the playing of the national anthem at the end of television stations' broadcast day.

WJHG will play the national anthem daily. (WJHG/WECP)

Gray Television stations across the country will begin airing the national anthem each day. Starting Thursday morning before NewsChannel 7 Today, our anthem will play.

Watch the video above to see what we will play each morning.

Featured in the video is Reina Özbay, 9, of south Florida. She has been singing in front of crowds since she was 4 years-old. Her stage debut happened at the age of 7 at South Florida's Stage Door Theatre. She landed her first guest starring role at the age of nine as Abigail in "The Chosen," the number one crowdfunded film/TV project in history. When not performing, Reina enjoys tennis, swimming, bike riding and drawing.

Her mother told us a story that “her birthday is July 3 and the evening she was born there was a massive fireworks display outside of the hospital window at the Milwaukee lakefront because they always did the big one on the 3rd - so it’s fun that she’s singing this song.”
