Walton County Board of County Commissioners puts $500,000 toward underpass

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The addition of an underpass to the intersection of Highway 98 and County Road 30A has been in the works for quite some time.

It was recently decided at the Walton County Commission meeting on Monday the Walton County Board of Commissioners would put $500,000 toward the underpass to match the $500,000 donation made by the Tourist Development Council.

Walton County Commissioner Trey Nick says they are working to get the $1,000,000 project started as quickly as possible.

Nick said, "The Tourist Development Council donated $500,000 to this project as well as the Board of County Commissioners put $500,000 to this project and it's all driven towards pedestrian safety and traffic safety here in Walton County."

The underpass will include lights and security cameras to add to their focus on safety.
