UPDATE: Missing Pensacola girl found dead

The body of a missing Escambia County girl has been found.

12-year-old Naomi Jones was last seen May 31st, near her home in the 1000th block of East Johnson Avenue in Pensacola.

According to our Pensacola affiliate, WEAR, Jones' body was found Monday afternoon around 4.

They are reporting Jones' body was found four miles from her home in Eight Mile Creek near Detroit and Ashland Avenues.


Escambia County officials are asking for the public's help finding a missing child who is listed as endangered.

Naomi Jones, 12, was last seen on May 31st at her home in the 1000th block of East Johnson Avenue in Pensacola.

Escambia County investigators, along with many other different agencies from across the country and the world, including the Walton County Sheriff's Office Child Abduction Response Team investigators, have been working tirelessly to track her down and bring her home safely.

"We sent investigators over to Escambia County to assist. It's called our CART team. It's a Child Abduction Response Team and right now every asset they can get. Every resource they can get is imperative, especially within the first week of a disappearance," Corey Dobridnia with the Walton County Sheriff's Office said.

Jones is described as 5 feet 1 inch tall, black with black hair and brown eyes, and weighs about 97 pounds. She was last seen wearing a red tank top and American flag denim shorts.
