Walton County Storm Information

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - MANDATORY EVACUATION:
Due to the potential of life threatening storm surge and winds predicted to accompany this storm, Walton County Emergency Management has an issued a Mandatory Evacuation order for the following evacuation zones: Evacuation Zone A, B, and C. To see if you are in those zones, click here.

The following information is from a press release sent to us from the Walton County Chamber of Commerce.

As of Monday, October 8th, at 11 a.m., Walton County is under a state
of emergency.

Citizen Information Service phone lines have been set up to answer questions and provide information to residents. Please communicate these numbers as you see fit – (850) 892-8392 and (850) 892-8394.

Walton County Emergency Management has established an email address for businesses and individuals to communicate supplies on hand, price gouging, closures and hotel availability. Please email esf18@co.walton.fl.us to share this information.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

Walton County Schools will be closed Tuesday, October 9, and Wednesday, October 10, with a decision being made regarding Thursday, October 11 by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

BUSINESS CLOSINGS

Walton County offices will open Tuesday, October 9, with an early closure of 12:00 p.m. Walton County offices will be closed Wednesday, October 10.

The City of DeFuniak Springs will close all non-essential offices Tuesday at noon and they will remain closed Wednesday.

The Walton County Health Department offices are closed and will reopen Friday at their regular time.

The courts of the First Judicial Circuit in Walton County will be closed Thursday.

SANDBAGS

Walton County is currently opening three sandbag locations:

-Blue Mountain Pit – 1002 South County Highway 83, Santa Rosa Beach, FL
-Legion Park – 226 Ponce de Leon Street, Miramar Beach, FL
-Lakewood Park/Lakeview – 30 Lakeview Drive, Santa Rosa Beach, FL

Sand and bags are provided at each pit, however you will need to bring your own shovel.
