WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Walton County Tourism Development Council has finalized the designs of its new building.
The new Walton County Tourism Development Center building will be located just south of the bay, on Highway 331. (WJHG/WECP)
At a meeting Thursday, they discussed those designs with residents.
The new building will be located just south of the bay, on southbound Highway 331.
The building will be re-branded as a "discovery center" and will showcase the history and environment of Walton County.
It'll also have more parking space (including for RVs, but not for overnight parking), meeting rooms, a 70 feet tall observation tower, and outdoor space.
TDC Executive Director Jay Tusa says Walton County needs this building.
"The new building is an exciting opportunity for not just the Tourism Development Council, not just our industry partners, but the whole community. This is something where we can highlight the area and we're really excited about that opportunity,” Tusa said.
The new center is being paid for by the TDC through the bed tax.
The designs still have to be approved by the TDC and the Board of County Commissioners. If that happens, it's expected to be completed in about two years.
