Walton County deputies find drugs and a handgun during traffic stop, young child inside car

Officials say during the search, they found narcotics along with paraphernalia and a 9mm handgun. (MGN)

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Walton County Officials say a traffic stop Saturday led to the discovery of drugs and an illegally concealed handgun. Inside the vehicle was a very young child.

According to the press release, "deputies conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck at the intersection of Lancelot Road and U.S. Highway 90. Three females were inside the vehicle along with a child."

They say, Janessa Bailey, 33, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. K9 Drago positively alerted deputies for the presence of narcotics.

Officials say during the search, they found narcotics along with paraphernalia and a 9mm handgun.

According to the press release, "Bailey was charged with possession of heroin with the intent to sell, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, the introduction of contraband into a corrections facility, and knowingly driving with a suspended license."

Also arrested was Brittany Clenney, 29. There was already an active warrant out for her arrest. Officials say she's charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and introduction of contraband into a corrections facility.

The young child in the car was transported to a family member by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Child Protection Unit.
