Warehouse to help store Hurricane Michael donations

GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - In addition to combating the coronavirus in Gulf County, many people are still recovering from Hurricane Michael.

The Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team has opened a warehouse to help people rebuild.

The group receives donations in bulk, so they built this warehouse to help store the items so they won't be damaged before they can be used.

They received a grant from the Jessie DuPont Foundation, and the Port St. Joe Port Authority is letting them rent the lot for only one dollar.

"We're doing roofs, we can store the material in here, anything we've been getting from Lowes, which is making donations, we can store it in the facility. Anyone that's giving furniture for anyone that's in the community, we're going to store it here. We have somewhere to lock it down," said Eddie Fields, Construction Coordinator, Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team.

Leaders with the recovery group say they are working with the county to eventually use the space to help with coronavirus relief.
