BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) One local organization paraded in the streets and held a ceremony Thursday to celebrate and honor veterans who were wounded in the line of duty.

The event included a parade, which stretched from Panama City Beach all the way to Panama City near Callaway.

"It makes them realize that they're not forgotten," Founder of Warrior Beach Retreat, Linda Cope said. "The nation is still grateful for there service and sacrifice."

Over the past 10 years, the Warrior Beach Retreat has honored several wounded veterans like local veteran Joshua Cope, who was injured during his years of service. Cope said all the love and support helps them recover and look forward to better days.

"Stress, a lot of PTSD. Your whole life has changed. People care and there are still veterans out there and were able to stick together and maintain that brotherhood like we had," veteran, Joshua Cope said.

The organization also recognized first responders who helped locals and others recover after Hurricane Michael.
