Washington County school leaders are working out ways to give the Class of 2020 a graduation ceremony on the same day originally planned.

According to the Washington County School District's Facebook page, both Chipley High School and Vernon High School students will have graduation ceremonies at the end of May.

Chipley High School leaders say the commencement ceremony will be held on May 21st. They say they will plan on keeping the ceremony as traditional as possible but will have to make changes to follow CDC guidelines. As of now, the plan for Chipley's graduation will have graduates drive to Phillip Rountree Stadium and depart their cars in small groups per social distancing guidelines and walk to their seat on the field. Each graduate will be given four tickets for family to sit together in the stands. Families sitting in the stands will be required to adhere to social distancing guidelines. The graduation will also be streamed.

Vernon High School leaders say they will be graduating May 22nd at Memorial Field at Yellow Jacket Stadium. They say they will announce soon with the number of guests a senior can have while staying in compliance with CDC requirements.
