PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - In honor of World War II veterans, the Collings Fundation's Wings of Freedom Tour landed its flying museum at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport Wednesday afternoon.
The infamous B-17, B-24 and P-51 bomber and fighter aircraft are on display Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to Noon at SheltAir. It is located a little south of the main airport terminal at 5325 Johnny Reaver Road.
Visitors can explore the planes inside and out. It costs $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12. World War II veterans get in for free.
Organizers said donations help offset the $4,000 per hour operation cost of each aircraft and help with ongoing restorations.
Thirty minute flights on the B-17 and B-24 are $450 per person. Guests can get personalized flight training on the P-51 for $2,200 for 30 minutes and $3,200 for an hour. Call (800) 568-8924 for more.
