The stores located on Front Beach Road and Thomas Drive were remodeled. During the ceremony, the SEG Gives Foundation donated more than $25,000 worth of food items to the Bay County School District to benefit their backpack program, which will help feed five-thousand families in the area. Winn Dixie plans to donate $1,000 to Patronis Elementary School, J.R. Arnold High School and Surfside Middle School to support each store's local school.
"Giving them a thousand dollars really just shows our commitment to them. It's just not today, we will continue to partner with them and do events with them and make sure that those teachers and those students know that Winn Dixie is here to support them," Store Growth Executive VP for Winn Dixie, Eddie Garcia said.
Garcia says the four remaining Panama City area stores that have been closed since the hurricane should reopen in September and October.
