Show host Charlie Dykes made the announcement Wednesday.

5 performers who entered a video for Southern Lights The Search for a Star were told through FaceBook live they are the winners of one thousand dollars each.

According to Dykes, the scoring was very close.

"The top 15 were just within points of each other," said Dykes.

Two performers who got the most Facebook votes were announced first.

Ada King with 718 likes and Travis Spurlock with 692.

Both were also in the top 15 of the judges scoring.

4 people not associated with southern lights judged nearly 60 entires

"It's really hard to judge videos," said Dykes. "We have performers that when they hit the stage there's a confidence, stage presence that they have that you don't see in the video."

The top 3 in the judges scoring are Reagan Whitehead from Dothan,

Dylan Kelley from Marianna and Paulina Roughton.

This is the second year for the talent competition. The first year was a live event where the winner took home $10,000.

"It's a free platform for people to just get their music out there," said Dykes.

The contest was pushed online this year due to COVID-19.

"With everything that was going on I feel like it was needed," said Dykes,.

Organizers are already working on next year's competition they hope will be live once again in Bonifay.
