PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG) - Who doesn't have a car story?
The Bay Storytellers, Bill Cramer Chevrolet Buick Cadillac GMC, and Floriopolis are hosting the inaugural CarSLAM at Bill Cramer's Car Dealership. A SLAM is a storytelling competition with no notes or reading permitted on a specific topic. In this case, the theme is cars.
The event is free and the possibilities are endless, but the time is not. Stories are absolutely limited to 7 minutes max.
Names of those participating in the SLAM will be dropped in a hat and drawn at random, continuing until the hat is empty or the event time is up. The judges will then decide the winning tales.
In addition to first, second, and third place SLAM cash prizes ($100, $75, and $50 respectively), there is also a special prize for the best Chevy, Buick, Cadillac, or GMC story, awards for car trivia as well as door prizes.
For anyone wanting help, The Bay Storytellers offer two story-crafting workshops for this event: August 13 and August 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the City Arts Cooperative located on Luverne Avenue.
