ZooWorld continues renovations after Hurricane Michael
ZooWorld in Panama City Beach has been busy renovating, fixing and adding new exhibits after Hurricane Michael.
A brand new entry is in the works at the zoo. The lion exhibit will finally be back and brand new after the storm, and that's expected to be completed by June. The barnyard and bear exhibits have been renovated. The entire fence around the zoo has been replaced. Staff says the zoo will be caught with Hurricane Michael related repairs and fixes by the start of the season.
"Renovations that we have been doing have all been with these big storms in mind. So, we've built in storm buildings for the animals now, we don't have to move them as much of there is a storm coming. The wrap up for us is a lot easier," Director of ZooWorld, Kayte Hogan said.
Friday is National Visit a Zoo Day, Hogan says everyone should experience animals up close and personal. Right now, the zoo is offering season passes for a discounted price.
