The Battle at the Beach 2D baseball tournament started Friday with a little over 20 teams from all over the southeast coming to town to compete. There are two age groups 16u and 18u competing, consisting of players from high school to freshman in college.

“We're based out of Shreveport, Louisiana, but we do our tournaments all across the southeast from Louisiana all the way to Georgia. We go as far west as California sometimes, all the way up to Ohio, Kentucky. We have really expanded over the last seven to ten years doing high school ball. Where we can find a place to get in, that's where we want to be,” said tournament director, Stephen Castello.

2D baseball tournaments have adjusted their mission for players since the pandemic hit. Castello also said that these summer tournaments are more crucial than ever because even though college baseball games aren't being played, college teams are still recruiting. The tournament will run through tomorrow with finals being played at 4:30.
