WEWAHITCHKA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - There was a lot of uncertainty before North Bay Haven Bash began.
Who would host? Which equipment would be used, after the Buccaneers' gear was destroyed in Hurricane Michael?
Once the event began at Wewahitchka High School, there was little doubt about who the best team was.
In the dual tournament, a team meet in which schools face each other in every weight class and winners move on, Arnold went 5-0 on Friday and Saturday to claim the championship crown.
Some margins of victory were wide: 59-6 over Wewa, and 51-18 over Niceville. Others, thrillers down to the final bout: squeaking by Gulf Breeze 36-35 on Friday thanks to an OT takedown by Tanner Brockman, and 42-40 over fellow Friday unbeaten and eventual third place finisher Marianna on Saturday.
These results continue a solid stretch for the program in this format. At the end of 2018, the Marlins won the district duals championship, clinching a spot at regionals on January 17th.
Gulf Breeze 9-1
Terry Parker 6-4
Fort Walton Beach 6-4
