Arnold making good use of bye week to heal some breaks, bumps and bruises
It's accurate to say Arnold head coach Josh Wright is happy to have a bye for his team this week, as the Marlins are dealing with several injury concerns. And foremost, the one to starting quarterback Cade Ledman.
The senior busted a finger on his right, or throwing hand in the win Friday over Bay.
An orthopedic doctor splinted it on the sideline, and Cade was able to come back in and lead his team to four touchdowns, making some throws, also running well.
That finger however needs surgery to repair and that happens tomorrow. The question becomes will Ledman be good to go next week in the huge district rivalry game with Mosley?
Coach Wright telling me Tuesday they'll deal with that as that game approaches. Obviously they are hopeful Cade will not only be able to play, but play at a high level. Coach Wright did tell me though he was happy with the way backup Liam Byrd played when he was on the field Friday, tossing a touchdown pass, and showing confidence while leading the offense.
Wright says they have other players healing a variety of injuries this week, as he put it, plenty of milk, plenty of ice passed around that locker room.
The game with Mosley next Friday will be for first place in the 5A-1 standings after the first two rounds of district play.
