Arnold set to head east to face rival Bay Friday
It's one of the more interesting match ups set for week 4 of the High School Football season. And it is both a bit of a grudge match and more importantly, a district game.
Arnold travels east over to Tommy Oliver in a couple of nights to take on Bay in the 5A-1 opener for both teams.
Over at Arnold, head coach Josh Wright and his team coming in 2-1 in their first three games, a win at South Walton, a home loss to Fort Walton, and then this blowout win Friday over Walton, after a bit of a weather delay.
We caught up with coach Wright Wednesday and he talked about his team's momentum!
"Yeah I think we're taking steps in every phase of the game right now. Our line's coming off of the ball. They're communicating well, trying to have a focus on protecting our quarterback, and give us an opportunity to have success on offense. Have time to make quick decisions. Again they're also opening lanes for the leading rusher in the district, Jerian Hardrick. So they're come a long way."
And coach pleased with his defense as well, pitching that shutout last week.
All in all, coach Wright feels good about where his team at this point of the season, going into this all important district opener.
"You know again it starts with those kids knowing who we're playing each week. And that each game gets a little tougher. And we show more of who we are each week so we get more on peoples radar and more identifiable as to what our strengths are. So again it's try to find a week to lock in on each week's game and how we can improve in the best areas, the little things that makes us better down the road. So that's where our focus has been, on the little things."
Bay meanwhile is 1-2, coming off the loss at St. Joe last week, we'll hear from that camp Thursday.
That game Friday one of many we'll feature on Friday Night Overtime.
