PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Saturday's Panama City Beach Invitational is the largest panhandle swimming and diving meet leading up to the the state series in November.
606 divers and swimmers from 21 schools competed, with swimming sessions beginning in the afternoon and running through the evening.
The latter session was highlighted by a trio of strong local performances.
Mosley senior Connor Smith finished first in the boys 100 yard freestyle, finishing sub-50 seconds.
Arnold freshman Colin McEliece was the only boy who completed the 100 yard breaststroke in less than 1:02, claiming Arnold's sole first place finish.
Mosley also placed first as a team in the 400 yard boys freestyle relay thanks to the efforts of Keenan Cain, Riley Campbell, Spencer Selhorst, and Mason Legg.
As a team, Mosley finished second with 330.5 points, just shy of the 374 points put up by meet champion Chiles. North Bay Haven finished fifth, while Arnold placed ninth and Bay finished 19th.
Although no Bay County girls won their individual events, the trio of Arnold, Mosley, and North Bay Haven earned top ten team finishes. The Marlins earned fifth overall, with the Dolphins sixth and the Buccaneers ninth.
