Blountstown a little thin in numbers heading into game with Northview
Even though it's been relatively sunny this week, all the rain recently continues to affect area teams as they prep for their week 4 games!
Take Blountstown for instance, coach Beau Johnson and his Tigers getting set to host Northview Friday, and though the rain has subsided a bit this week, well that doesn't mean their practice schecule is back to normal.
"We've gotten so much rain that our field, and our practice field, the place we normally practice is still swampy and messed up." coach Johnson tells us. "Every Sunday you have to have a plan A, B, C. But you just keep grinding and keep finding a way to get it done. And so far the kids have been great about adjusting to the different places. But yeah I imagine every football coach in the panhandle is...we've practiced in four different locations."
An even bigger concern for coach Johnson and his Tigers, the fact his team is a bit thin heading into the game against Northview, which is consistently one of the better 1A progams in the state.
"We're pretty beat up." says the coach "We played 3A Florida High who's number two in the state in the 3A class two weeks ago. And we lost a couple of kids to injury. Last week we played 4A Marianna and
lost another kid. We already were only dressing about 28. So we're looking to dressing only about 23 kids Friday. So our biggest concern is probably health."
The Tigers now 2-1 with wins over Graceville and Marianna, the loss coming at FSU. The game with Northview Friday at 7 and is one of several we'll feature on Friday Night Overtime.
