Blountstown's Richards named 1A Player of the Year

BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Although Blountstown volleyball fell to eventual state champion Sneads in the Final Four, senior Emma Richards is receiving a fitting end to an exemplary season and high school career.

Richards has been named Florida Dairy Farmers 1A Player of The Year.

Richards led the team in more ways than one, serving as captain and tallying 445 kills, 35 ace, and a .464 hitting percentage, stats ranking among the best in Florida in her class.

Richards is the first female athlete to earn player of the year honors at Blountstown.

Area volleyball fans will see more of Richards in the near future. Following graduation next spring, she'll continue her career at Gulf Coast.
