Blountstown's Treven Smith, Beau Johnson win state honors Tuesday

Beau Johnson and Treven Smith named Florida Dairy Farmers 1A Coach and Player of the Year respectively.

BLOUNTSTOWN, FL (WJHG/WECP) It is some much deserved recognition for a pair of Blountstown Tigers!
Senior, Running Back/Defensive Back Treven Smith and Blountstown head coach Beau Johnson both hauling in some serious postseason accolades Tuesday.

Smith named the Florida Dairy Farmers 1A Player of the Year! Smith. All he did was lead his team to the state championship game by rushing for 1,950 yards on 156 carries, an average of 12 and a half yards per carry, along with 22 touchdowns.

Toss in the 10 receiving TD's, 4 kick returns and 2 defensive scores and that's 38 TD's total. Then a few weeks ago Smith broke Thaddius Franklin's one day-old state title game record by rushing for 365 yards and five TDs in the state championship game loss to Madison.

As for coach Johnson, he's the 1A Coach of the Year. For him another incredible job for him this season, a year after dealing with the destruction and distraction of Hurricane Michael last year, he rallied his guys, kept them together, focused and motivated. The result, a 13-1 record, the title in the first ever S-S-A-C playoff, and the 1A state runner up finish. His two year record at Blountstown 21-4!
