Buc's get back to work in the weigh room, and the parking lot!
More area football players are putting in some work back on campus these days. As of Tuesday that includes the Buccaneers of North Bay Haven.
Coach Any Siegal gathering his guys together for the first time since being allowed back together. About 35 players showing up for the work Tuesday morning. After getting their temperatures checked, it was time to "check in".
For these Buc's, well the work starting in the weight room, and eventually took them out to the parking lot, that's right, the parking lot.
These are some tough Buccaneers, no doubt about it.
"Well they're working on one field to make it a game field, the other field just got sodded, so kind of staying off it a little bit." coach Siegal told me. "Letting that sod take hold. Every day you adapt and overcome."
The coach says they should be back on the practice field later this week. The important thing here is they are working, and working
"Right now, I don't want to test them." Siegal said. "I just want to get them back used to a rhythm, back used to a program, also we'll run them. Some speed and quickness. And re-developing them with lifting. And next week we'll return to slowly get them into what we're supposed to." The coach went on to say "Well we're in phase two now so you're allowed 50 on the field now. But only nine and a coach in the weight room. So to keep the system, what we've been doing is keep nine guys in the weight room, another group of nine with a coach running. And another coach directing traffic. And then we switch. So really what we're doing is to just build a baseline, that's all."
And any kind of work, anywhere together, well that's a good thing coach Siegal told me. "It brings back some normalcy to the situation that were in . You know it's summer. I'm a football coach I'm supposed to be working with football players. It's summer and football players are supposed to be working out. Everybody's been kind of thrown off kilter so we're back and I think it's a positive step back to normal."
Coach says they expect to be back on their practice field later this week.
