C.H.A.M.P. Camp kicks off Friday

LYNN HAVEN, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - Graceville alum and Chicago Bears Director of Pros Scouting, Anthony "Champ" Kelly, is gearing up to host his C.H.A.M.P. Camp in our area.

The summer football camp starts Friday at Mosley.

Champ says he's expecting around 220 kids this week.

Kids aged 10-19 will be split into two groups, and work with coaches while running a series of football drills.

Champ's a Graceville alum, and his desire to share the lessons he learned back when he suited up for the Tigers is what takes him away from the Chicago Bears front office and keeps him coming back to the Panhandle.

Champ has a large network of football connections. Dozens of former teammates, current and former NFL players, and college players are coming to support the camp and the message.

"The people who come back to support, and come help coach and staff the camp, they genuinely do it out of the kindness of their heart," Kelly said. "No one's getting paid. They're out there in that heat strictly so that one camper can learn something that may change or alter their path in life. And so the genuineness of the people is the pulse of the heartbeat of the entire camp."
