Glen Mayo lands head coaching gig at USC Salkehatchie

A Chipley native's taking the next step in a juco basketball coaching career.

Glen Mayo was hired this week as the head coach of the new women's basketball program at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie.

Coach Mayo is 25-years-old and a 2010 graduate of Chipley High School.

Mayo got his degree at Chipola College. He spent time as an assistant at Graceville and Alabama Southern, before coming back as an assistant at Chipola.

He then spent two years as an assistant for Steve DeMeo at Northwest Florida before moving to USC Salkehatchie as an assistant in the men's program.

Congrats to coach Mayo, perhaps he'll bring his new team back to the Panhandle to face Chipola and Gulf Coast!
