PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The 14th annual Fall Into Edgewater gymnastics meet at the Edgewater Beach Resort welcomed more than 500 gymnasts from the southeast over the weekend.
The entry list included many of the area's best youth gymnasts ages 5 to 18 hailing from seven states for three days of competitions.
One of the event's standout performances came courtesy of the hosts.
Edgewater Gymnastics swept the all-around categories at all levels they entered on Friday. The team is always excited to put this event on, but their effort and results make this year even more special.
"They get to hand out the medals to everyone. They get to do the march in and the spotlight," meet director and Edgewater Gymnastics owner Pam Kitchen said. "It's just such an honor because there's so many kids here from different states. They just feel so proud that it's their meet and they get to host these children from all over the place."
Kitchen credits support from local businesses (including but not limited to) Gulf World and Rock'it Lanes as a major factor for the event's continued success.
This is the first preseason meet for Edgewater Gymnastics.
February 15-17, gymnastics returns to the resort for the Edgewater Classic.
