FSU fired up for Monday night football

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - 'Are you ready for some football?'

Florida State fans will pack the parking lots and the seats at Doak Campbell Stadium for 'a Monday night party' as the Seminoles open the Willie Taggart era against Virginia Tech. Both teams are ranked in the top 20.

The schedule for college football's first week feels out of whack for some teams.

FSU fit one more practice on Saturday, meaning Saturday was more like a Thursday. Before and after practice, they watched nearly everyone else in the nation play.

Although the change of routine is weird for fans, it's no big deal to the team.

"Not at all," Taggart told the media following practice. "We're preparing for our game. None of those games have anything to do with us really. We're staying locked into what we have to do on Monday night. [Saturday] is another day to get better."

Deondre Francois will make his first start at quarterback since last year's season opener against Alabama, when he was knocked out with a season-ending injury.

Kickoff is set for shortly after 8 p.m. Eastern.
