PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Grand Lagoon Grand Slam is set for August 9 through August 11th at Lighthouse Marina on Grand Lagoon in Panama City Beach.
The event features two divisions, Sportfish and Center Console. The bigger boats will fish for two days chasing blue marlin, tuna, wahoo and dolphin, while smaller boats compete just one day for tuna, wahoo and dolphin.
As the event enters its third year of existence, excitement continues to build.
"The Gulf is on fire," tournament director Scott Burt said. "Everybody knows it has become a world-class fishery, it's amazing. The bill fish bite this year, you've seen it, everybody's seen it this year and last year, it's just incredible. And this is just a fun tournament. It's a little bit of an old school tournament. We keep things simple, we keep it down-home, and there's a lot of folks here in Panama City that want to see a tournament come back."
There will only be a Friday weigh-in if a team lands a blue marlin.
