Greg Jordan gets set to face his alma mater and program he coached last season
Among the area high school football teams playing in round two State playoff games is Blountstown and Port St. Joe, who will go head to on the latter's field Friday night.
Not only is that a game pitting great rivals, who've had great seasons so far, the Tigers 8-2, the Sharks are 9-0.
But it also pits Blountstown against coach Greg Jordan, who after a dozen seasons leading the Tigers, moved to St. Joe in January.
Jordan admitting to me he expects to feel some emotions about seeing the Tigers on the "other" side of the field, but feels eventually the X's and O's of it all will take over!
"You know once the game's kicked off and the ball's in the air all that will come into focus. And that (the emotions) won't be an issue. But in preparation for, you do think about those things but I've got to focus, and our kids have to do the same thing. And try to play as best we can and hope for good results. It will be different, there's no denying that. Competing against a school that I coached and played at, an alumnus from. So it will be different. But in a coaching situation I'm just going to try to look out to midfield, and not across the field. You know work with our guys and our quarterback and not try to focus on who we're playing but what they're doing."
That game Friday set for 7:30 eastern. Also on the schedule of playoff games involving area teams Friday, Vernon hosts Jay, Sneads hosts Jefferson, Marianna at Raines and South Walton also in the Jacksonville area to take on West Nassau.
