Gulf Coast State College announces new Women's Basketball Head Coach

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Cayla Petree was announced as Gulf Coast State College's new Women's Basketball Head Coach.

The college says Coach Petree will begin immediately assisting with recruiting for the 2020 basketball season.

Cayla Petree played for Texas Tech with NCAA Hall of Famer Women's Basketball Coach Marsha Sharp, there, the team reached NCAA Elite 8.

Petree joins GCSC from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, and has also coached at New Mexico Junior College, Cisco Junior College, University of North Texas and Angelo State University.

Overall head coach: 226-96
Wins in 2 years: 62
2019 – 30-5 and elite 8
2020 – 32-1 conference champs & region 5 champs
