Local golfers are ready for the start of the girls and boys state tournaments

BAY COUNTY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - A few local golfers are in central Florida Monday night in advance of the start of the girls and boys State Tournaments.

Among those representing our area, the entire girls teams of Mosley and Arnold.

The Dolphins heading south as the 2A region one champs, a title they claimed last week, led by seniors Olivia Hodges, holding the trophy there, and Marybeth McGuire, to Hodges left.

The latter making a return trip to the Mission Inn Course at Howey in the Hills! An advantage perhaps?

"I do feel like it helps me," Marybeth McGuire, Mosley senior golfer said. " I always feel like course familiarity is an advantage. But I mean there's always variables that will change. It will be, it will feel like a new course, like a new experience, so that's exciting."

"I just treat it like any other tournament," Olivia Hodges, Mosley senior golfer said. "I'm just excited that I get to go. But I"m just trying to treat it like any other tournament so I don't get freaked out by it."

"We've done a lot more drills as we've been preparing for state because we know the courses are a lot different, down at the course we're gonna be playing at Howey In The Hills," Cindi McGuire, Mosley golf coach said. "There's a lot of hills, and a lot of different types of sets for the greens. So we've been trying to do a lot of drills to prepare for that."

Again Mosley, and Arnold, led by senior Cameron Fish, who was the low round at last week's region tourney, traveling south over the weekend. Monday was a practice round, the first 18 of 36 holes tomorrow. Niceville girls and Fort Walton Beach boys teams also down south, we wish them all good luck.
