Mosley alum JJ Bleday now has two title rings in hand!
Some forever momentos are now in hand, quite literally, for Mosley alum and current member of the Miami Marlins organization JJ Bleday.
JJ part of a Vanderbilt team that won SEC and National Championships back in June. About three weeks ago, JJ and his teammates received those championship rings, and Tuesday night I spoke with Bleday, who's spending his offseason in Nashville, about getting those rings!
"Oh man it was awesome." Bleday told me. "It just shows the amount of time and the amount of energy put in you know for a preseason. And then the effort we put into it, and just finally seeing the result and a trophy, in a way, to look at, to commemorate what we accomplished, it was just awesome, they're beautiful."
JJ says he's keeping the rings in a safe, close to home, and will likely wear them to alumni events, things like that.
Bleday spent his first professional season with the Marlins A-ball Florida State League team. I asked him how he felt about that the time spent with the Jupiter Hammerheads, a 38 game stretch in which he hit .257 with 3 home runs and 19 rbi.
"I was satisfied, you know I wasn't completely in awe. I wanted to continue to get better. But after talking to a lot of the Marlins staff, they were very impressed with how I did and how I handled myself. And you know the Florida State League's a tough league to hit in, nobody said it was gonna be easy. So I was very satisfied with how I ended my first pro season."
JJ will not be playing winter ball, and will work out under the guidelines the organization's laid out for him, with an eye towards reporting in late January.
