LYNN HAVEN, FL (WJHG/WECP) Mosley High School has a new Athletic Director, it is former Mosley baseball coach Doug Lee.
Principal Brian Bullock sending out an email Thursday announcing the hiring of coach Lee as the Dolphins new A.D.
Coach Lee is a veteran teacher and coach in Bay County, a Rutherford alum who went on to coach baseball at his alma mater and later, for five years at Mosley. His team in 2002 won the school's only State Championship.
Coach Lee moves over from the District Office, where he was the Executive Director of Operations.
Mr. Bullock's release Thursday did not mention the previous A.D. Josh Vandergrift, who was on paid Administrative Leave.
Coach Vandergrift, who will remain as a teacher and the head softball coach at Mosley, did sent a text to all the coaches at the school Thursday afternoon expressing sadness at being removed as A.D. and going on to say " I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the teachers and coaches , the Lynn Haven community, and the entire Dolphin family for their tremendous support over the last eight years."
Coach Vandergrift was put on leave following a series of events starting with a complaint from another local tv station, which thought the coach was showing favoritism in disseminating information. That complaint leading to the Superintendent asking for Vandergrift's cellphone texts and calls. Even after complying with those requests, Josh was put on leave and the District began an H.R. investigation into the coach's actions.
Newschannel 7 has requested that report, and the coach's response to it. We will update this story in the near future.
