LYNN HAVEN, FL (WJHG/WECP) A pair of area teams are looking ahead to a Thursday night debut, in terms of the regular season schedule.
Walton and Mosley will go head to head at Tommy Oliver Stadium Thursday night.
The Braves coming off a 24-17 loss to Holmes in their preseason classic last week, the Dolphins coming off a 34-13 win on the road at Milton.
You tend to doubt the coaches are putting too much stock in those outcomes, they certainly will work this week to fine tune things on offense, defense, special teams. And now they have good film to work with.
One thing is certain, the kids will be pysched to be on the field come Thursday.
"Yeah we're super excited." Mosley head coach Jeremy Brown told us. "The energy level in the weight room this morning was really high. We thought the kids played really well last Friday. We've got some stuff we've got to work on, we're not anywhere close to where we want to be, but the kids are working really hard, their attitudes are great. I think they're just excited to go out and play a real four quarter football game that actually means something."
As for whether or not he's set on his depth chart, well coach Brown says even when he knows his starting lineup, it's still a work in progress.
"You know we evaluated the film this weekend and we're gonna put the guys in there that we think played the best this past Friday. And then we'll evaluate again. You know the first two, three weeks of the season we're constantly evaluating and trying to see who can be consistent, you know what I mean. I think sometimes in high school football what happens is that a kid knows he's a one (starter) and gets a little bit comfortable. And we start seeing the lack of effort at practice, during the drills, in the weight room. And we gauge all that stuff."
That game Thursday at Chapman Field at Tommy Oliver Stadium set for 7 o'clock.
