LYNN HAVEN, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - It is going to be a very big couple of days ahead at Mosley's Redfern Gym.
Friday and Saturday, the 'fins will be hosting the Panhandle Championships, with many of the regions top wrestling programs coming in to compete.
"You know we're trying to establish an elite tournament here that and crown a true Panhandle champion." says John Winkler, Mosley's wrestling coach. "We didn't have this tournament last year due to some scheduling conflicts, but this year we're having the tournament back on. And we have 13 teams coming, two are out of state. Arnold, Bay, Rutherford, of course Mosley. Crestview, Gulf Breeze, Tate."
Among others. The action gets going Friday afternoon at 1:30 and picks up again Saturday morning at ten, so two full days of competition.
"Well it's great," the coach says "it really puts our name out there, let's other schools really know who we are. We like to do that by the work we do on the mat, not necessarily by the tournaments we hold, but yeah I mean it's exciting. It's a lot of work but we're excited to have it."
